About the apprenticeship

Duration: 12 months. 20% of their time ‘off the job’ to complete their apprenticeship

Qualifications: Where a Team Leader Supervisor has not already achieved grade 4 (C) or above in  English and Maths, they must do so before taking the end-point assessment.

Experience: Hands-on experience and learning gained from real life situations, with the guidance of industry professionals who ensure that young children are kept healthy and safe whilst they continue to learn and develop

Skills: Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.

Apprenticeship Funding:

Co-Investment

Your apprenticeship is 95% funded through the Education Skills Funding Agency meaning there is only a small contribution towards the apprentices training costs.

Levy Contributions:

If your organisation has a wage bill in excess of £3m then your apprenticeship training is 100% funded through Levy contributions you have already been making. This will probably mean you already have the funds to cover an apprentice’s on programme training.

Team Leader Supervisor Co-Investment – £225

Your Local council may transfer Levy funds to cover your 5% co-investment for you. This Changes between councils and on the availability of funds. This is something we can apply for but can not be guaranteed.

Who is eligible?

Ages: All ages are eligible to become an apprentice.

Working hours: *Minimum 30 hours / week contract (to meet minimum apprenticeship duration) *If no, the Apprentice must work more than 16 hours per week. The length of the apprenticeship will be adjusted accordingly

Prior Learning Requirements: There are no prior learning requirements. Apprentices may need to complete English and Maths functional skills during their apprenticeship, depending on their prior qualifications.

Wage expectations

New apprentice who is 16 – 18 years old: Minimum apprenticeship wage until they turn 19.

New apprentice 19 years old or over: Minimum apprenticeship wage for the first 12 months.

Upskilling existing staff: Minimum wage in-line with their age

 

Any apprentice can be paid more than the minimum requirement. This is your choice as an organisation or their existing rate of pay.

End Point Assessment

An ‘End Point Assessment’ takes place at the end of any apprenticeship. An independent assessor will use different assessment methods to determine if the apprentice is secure in the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected from the apprenticeship standard.
